The beginning of another year~
In honor of the new year, I suppose I should type out my resolutions as well as a wrap up of what I accomplished last year. I’ve seen a few such posts on social media, but they get boring quickly if you get too detailed. Better to keep things light and fun!
2025 Accomplishments
☆ Finished 2 semesters at ArtCenter
☆ Made enough money to start paying off my school loans
☆ Made 1 new zine — the one about my family’s old house
☆ Learned how to use After Effects
☆ Vended at the San Diego Zine Fest and the Claremont Zine Fest
☆ Volunteered a ton with local arts organizations, such as Here Clubhouse, Nova Community Arts, and Tuesday Night Cafe
2025 Favorites
☆ She got into listening to local indie bands! I think my favorite are Wisteria, MyVeronica, and Kai Tak
☆ Got really into shopping from independent artists, and covered my jacket in patches from Lily the Kid, Zoebug Arts, and Jean (I don’t think Jean has an official business name)
☆ Big fan of the movie Sharknado, which I watched with a friend
☆ Got some really good boba at Torotea
☆ Potato plushies from Smoko! Started off as my mom’s favorite collectable, but the Tayto fever has spread to me as well. I now have a stuffed sailor potato and a mime potato
☆ Just got really into watching people with pet reptiles and bugs pamper their little cold-blooded babies
2025 Lessons
☆ Expecting myself to accomplish a superhuman amount of tasks makes me break under pressure. I need to relax.
☆ I should integrate my natural lean towards storytelling into my graphic design
☆ I can find esteem in caring for myself and others and not just through my professional development
☆ That feeling good about yourself and having confidence can ` encourage you to grow
☆ To be more attentive and sensitive when talking with others
☆ That the love of other people transforms and realizes the love you have for yourself
So I suppose I learned and did a lot this year. I say this every year, but I’m so thankful for all the people in my life and for all the good things that happened to me. I feel incredibly lucky to have a place to live, people who love me, and beautiful art surrounding me. But anyway, here are some resolutions:
2026 Resolutions
☆ I get through another 2 terms at ArtCenter
☆ Learn how to screen print at home
☆ Make a zine about my sick cat
☆ Take 1 international trip (it will be Canada or Mexico that is all I can afford)
☆ Learn how to sew
☆ Volunteer, especially in LA communities affected by ICE
We’ll see if I can accomplish all of this. If I could it’d be pretty cool.
